The Conquerors story
Every church has a story. Ours began with a step of faith-and it is still unfolding today.
From a small storefront in Detroit to our campus in Clinton Township, the story of Conquerors Church is a story of faith, perseverance, and the goodness of God. We have experienced growth, faced hard decisions, and started again. Through every chapter, God has been our shield and our strength.
It began in March 1976. After faithfully serving at St. Mark Church of God in Christ, my father, Elder Wilbert Curtis Moore, and my mother felt led by God to start a church. Their heart was to teach His Word and serve the surrounding community. They called it New Revelation Church of God in Christ.
The first congregation was made up of family and close friends. My parents prayed and searched for a place to gather. They found a small storefront at 13114 Puritan Avenue in Detroit. On the first Sunday of June 1976, the church held its first service there.
A small beginning. A faithful commitment. And room for God to work.
Over the next decade, the congregation grew to more than 150 people. The vision was reaching beyond the walls of that storefront. In July 1985, the church purchased the building next door and expanded its worship space.
Then came a deeply personal turning point.
In January 1999, after facing a debilitating illness, my father, Pastor Moore, preached his final Sunday sermon. Its title was "I Fought My Fight!" He passed away that June. Before his passing, he asked the church to receive me, his son, Samuel "Sam" Allen Moore, as his successor. In August 1999, I was ordained and appointed to lead the church.
It was my turn to carry forward the foundation my parents and this church family had laid.
I came with fresh energy and a vision for reaching people in new ways. The ministry became known as Conquerors of Faith Church of God in Christ. Through dynamic preaching, warm fellowship, and a commitment to spiritual growth, the church welcomed people from different walks of life.
But the journey ahead would require another step of faith.
In 2008, I sensed God leading our church to move. The congregation was established. To many, leaving did not make sense. I hesitated, and over time, our congregation declined to fewer than 100 people.
In early 2009, I decided to move forward, even though not everyone was ready to go. My final sermon at Puritan Avenue was called "I See a Church." It was a declaration of faith in what God was calling us toward-even before the next location was clear.
In 2010, my wife, Lady LaShawn, and I launched Conquerors Church in Macomb County with a non-denominational vision and just 25 people.
Twenty-five people! A new beginning. And a vision that kept moving.
For a time, we gathered in a hair salon while searching for a permanent home. That home came at 33800 Gratiot Avenue, near Target, in Clinton Township.
The owners invested more than $120,000 in renovations. New electrical work, fire-rated walls, accessible restrooms, a café, and a glass entryway helped create a welcoming ministry space.
There was room for about 142 people. Within a year and a half, the congregation had grown to more than 300. One Sunday service became two, and Saturday services were added as well.
Special services sometimes moved to the AMC Theater. By the fifth year, more than 500 people had attended Conquerors within a 60-day period.
When the lease ended and the property was no longer available, the theater became a temporary gathering place while the church searched for its next home.
That search led to a building in Roseville, near Sam's Club. It had been on the market for more than two years when Conquerors purchased it.
A dedicated group of men and I worked steadily to prepare the building. We created a worship space for about 160 people, added a youth area, and reopened a child care center. That center would become an important part of the ministry's service to children and families.
During the COVID years, church growth slowed. Yet the child care ministry continued serving families. A free GSRP preschool program for four-year-olds was added, and the work with children kept expanding.
Then... another door opened.
After an unexpected tax challenge at the Roseville property, I felt led to seek a new location. I visited Clinton Township and asked about available property. At first, the staff had nothing that matched what we needed. But a township planner overheard the conversation and suggested Baker College.
Lady LaShawn and I toured the campus. The right building was not obvious at first. After returning to review the blueprints, I saw what I had missed: a building that fit the vision.
The opportunity had opened just days after another deal on the property fell through.
We received the keys in December 2022 and moved into the campus in 2023.
Today, the church serves from approximately 33,000 square feet, with two levels, a commercial kitchen, expanded worship seating, and a modern stage. Little Conquerors Schools has also grown, with capacity for more children and programs that include GSRP and Early Head Start.
And the vision keeps moving.
Conquerors is developing expanded after-school opportunities and helping connect families with practical support. Resource fairs, student backpacks, and mobile community services are part of that work. Dozens of people have been baptized at our current location.
Through our partnership with Forgotten Harvest, we help feed hundreds of people each week. It is one way we put our faith into action and respond to real needs in our community.
Conquerors has also been featured on Channel 7 News as a community-minded church serving people in Clinton Township who need support.
From fireworks events to drone shows and jazz shows, Conquerors has been there-bringing people together and creating opportunities for our community to connect.
And we are looking ahead with expectation. Stay tuned-there's more to come!
Behind every building and every move are people: families served, children supported, and lives touched by the love of Jesus Christ.
That is why Conquerors exists. Our mission is to Magnify God, Maximize Purpose, and Mobilize People. We want to honor God, help people grow in their purpose, and put faith into action through service.
We honor the generations who laid the foundation. We celebrate the work happening now. And we look ahead with expectation.
You are getting to know a church whose story is still being written. We invite you to explore, ask questions, and consider what your next step might be.
God has been faithful. And the best... is still to come!

Our mission and vision
Welcome to the second segment of CONNECT: Our Mission and Vision.
You've heard our story. Now, let's talk about the purpose that guides us-and the future we're working toward together.
Our vision is: Building Strong Families. Empowering Individuals. Transforming Communities.
We envision a thriving, multi-generational, multiracial, multi-location church reaching people of every age and background-united by one shared culture: God Pursuers!
Together, we will discover our God-given purpose, strengthen families, and bring lasting impact to our communities through faith, education, and service.
As we look ahead to multiple locations, our heart is to reach people across generations and racial backgrounds while sharing one culture. We are God Pursuers: people who seek God, learn from His Word, and put our faith into practice together.
What does that look like in everyday life?
Building Strong Families means caring about what happens beyond Sunday morning. We want to encourage relationships rooted in faith, love, and responsibility. We want children and young people to have opportunities to learn and grow, and we want generations to support one another. Strong families need encouragement, meaningful relationships, and practical support.
Empowering Individuals means helping people recognize their value and develop their God-given purpose. Every person brings gifts, experiences, and potential. Through biblical teaching, spiritual growth, and leadership development, we want to help people grow in confidence and put what they learn into practice.
Transforming Communities means carrying our faith into the places where we live, work, and serve. We want our neighbors to experience the love of Jesus through both our words and our actions. Education, service, and practical outreach give us opportunities to respond to real needs and build relationships that make a lasting difference.
Our mission explains how we pursue that vision.
Conquerors Church exists to help individuals live victorious, purpose-driven lives through dynamic worship, biblical teaching, leadership development, and practical community outreach. We are committed to building a culture of faith, excellence, and empowerment that strengthens families, nurtures future generations, and brings positive transformation to the communities we serve.
You will also hear us express our mission in three memorable statements: Magnify God. Maximize Purpose. Mobilize People.
Magnify God. We give God the central place in our worship and our lives. We gather to worship Him, learn from His Word, and grow in a faith that shapes our everyday choices.
Maximize Purpose. We help people discover and develop what God has placed inside them. Purpose grows as we learn, build relationships, and use our gifts to contribute to the lives of others.
Mobilize People. We put faith into action. We encourage people to serve, develop as leaders, and participate in practical outreach that strengthens families and supports our community.
Our vision describes the impact we're working toward. Our mission guides the work we do to get there.
As you explore Conquerors, we hope you'll see opportunities to grow in faith, build meaningful relationships, and contribute in ways that fit your gifts and season of life.
Building Strong Families. Empowering Individuals. Transforming Communities.
That's the vision we're pursuing together. And there is room for you to take your next step.

How we do life together
Welcome to CONNECT, Segment Four: The Conquerors Culture.
Culture is how we do life together. At Conquerors, we welcome people of different ages, races, and backgrounds, united by one shared culture: God Pursuers!
We seek God, learn from His Word, and put our faith into practice. Our culture grows through honor, excellence, generosity, serving, relationships, spiritual growth, and faith.
Honor
We recognize the value God has placed in every person. We listen carefully, speak respectfully, and treat guests, church family, and leaders with care. Honor also means we can ask questions and work through differences with humility and respect.
Excellence
We give our best because God and people matter. Excellence means being prepared, dependable, thoughtful, and willing to learn. We communicate clearly and follow through on our commitments. When we make mistakes, we take responsibility and grow.
Generosity
We share what God has entrusted to us: our time, abilities, resources, and encouragement. Generosity can be a helping hand, a listening ear, or practical support for a neighbor. We give willingly and look for opportunities to make a difference.
Serving
We follow Jesus' example by caring for others. Every role has value, including the work that happens behind the scenes. We serve with humility, work together, and communicate honestly about the commitments we can make.
Relationships
We make room to know one another. We welcome people, learn names, listen to their stories, and build trust over time. We want people across generations and backgrounds to find meaningful connections within our church family.
Spiritual growth
We keep learning and responding to God. Prayer, Scripture, worship, and relationships help us grow in Christ. We stay teachable and encourage one another to take the next step. Each person comes with a different story, and growth is a journey we walk together.
Faith
We trust God and seek His direction. Our church's history includes moments when we had to move forward before every detail was clear. Today, we continue to pray, seek wisdom, and act on what God calls us to do.
These values belong together. Honor shapes our relationships. Excellence strengthens our serving. Generosity puts care into action. Spiritual growth deepens our faith.
As we pursue a vision of reaching more people across multiple locations, we want these values to shape the life we share wherever we gather.
Different ages. Different races. Different backgrounds. One shared culture: God Pursuers!
As you explore Conquerors, we invite you to get to know the people and see these values in everyday life. And if you're ready to make Conquerors your church home, take your next step into Membership.

Your visit to Conquerors
Hello again! We're truly excited that you're considering Conquerors as a place to grow in your journey with God. Let me give you a snapshot of what to expect here.
Our Sunday worship begins at 10 a.m. and lasts roughly 100 minutes. Our services are high energy, with powerful, engaging worship that invites you to participate.
We also have a time called Meet and Greet. At Conquerors, we believe everyone needs a hug! You'll see people moving throughout the worship area, greeting one another and sharing the love of Christ. If you prefer a handshake or a friendly hello, you're welcome to connect that way, too.
During Altar Prayer, we bring our burdens and concerns before God. When life feels heavy, this is an opportunity to come to the altar, pray, and trust that God hears us.
Then we open God's Word. Pastor Sam's teaching is animated and grounded in Scripture, with practical life principles you can carry into your week. Our desire is for you to understand the Bible and experience how its truth can change your life.
While adults worship, children and youth have their own Sunday service on the second level, with age-appropriate Bible lessons and activities.
Children can also visit the prize locker, using the CC Bucks they've earned through good grades and other opportunities. It's a fun way to celebrate their effort and accomplishments!
Wondering what to wear? Our atmosphere is casual. You may see some of our senior ladies wearing their hats, while others come dressed down. There's no dress-up requirement-come comfortably, as you are.
Our time together continues during the week.
On Wednesdays, Pastor Sam leads Bible Study, taking a deeper, verse-by-verse look at Scripture to help us understand what it means and how to live it.
Wednesday is also Youth Group night. Teens gather to talk through real-life issues and peer pressures. Younger children meet in their groups to discuss what's on their minds and grow together.
Whether you're coming for worship, bringing your children, or looking for a place to learn and build relationships, we look forward to welcoming you.
