Your Team and Next Steps

Your general orientation is the beginning. Your next step is to connect with a leader, learn your role, and find the serving rhythm that fits your availability.

Orientation is the start of the journey

You have completed the Serve @ CC classroom modules on the heart of serving, excellence, honor, teamwork, and safety. Next, you will connect with a serving leader, schedule a date to serve alongside that leader, shadow the team to learn its flow, and then begin serving in your role.

Our serving process is: Sit in Class → Schedule a Shadow Serve → Shadow → Serve. You first learn in these modules, then schedule a date to serve alongside a team leader, learn the flow by shadowing, and begin serving with the team.

1. Learn about the two serving rhythms

Conquerors Church has different ways to serve, and the right fit depends on your interest and availability.

  • Community Volunteer Pool: Volunteers may help with outreach, special events, and other opportunities as they arise. You can share the kinds of opportunities and times that work for you.
  • Dream Team: Volunteers serve in ongoing ministry roles during regular Sunday services and other designated services. A leader will explain the team's schedule, expectations, and current needs.

These are different serving rhythms. Talk with a leader about what you are interested in and what commitment you can realistically make. Completing this orientation does not automatically place you on a team or schedule you for a service.

2. Have a placement conversation

A serving leader can help you explore where your gifts, experience, and interests may fit. Be honest about your availability, other commitments, and the type of serving you are ready to do. It is helpful to discuss:

  • Which ministries or types of service interest you.
  • Which days and times you are usually available.
  • How often you are hoping to serve.
  • Any questions, training needs, or support that would help you start well.

You do not need to have every answer. The conversation is a chance to understand the options and agree on a next step together.

3. Schedule a Shadow Serve

Work with the team leader to choose a date when you can serve alongside them. The leader will tell you when to arrive, where to report, what to wear or bring, and what you will observe or help with. This is a planned learning opportunity, so confirm the date and details directly with the leader.

Use the shadow serve to see how the team prepares, serves during the service, communicates, and wraps up. Ask questions and learn the flow before you take on the role yourself.

4. Then serve with the team

After shadowing, connect with the leader about what you learned and any questions you still have. The leader will confirm your role, any remaining training steps, and when you are ready to serve. Once you begin, follow the team's scheduling and communication process, keep your commitments, and speak with the leader if your availability changes.

5. Keep growing as you serve

Serving is a journey of learning. Ask for feedback, celebrate progress, and let your leader know when you need support or would like to explore another opportunity. Your gifts can grow as you serve, and your role may change as your season of life changes.

  • Talk with a leader about your interests, availability, and serving rhythm.
  • Schedule a date to serve alongside the team leader.
  • Shadow the leader to learn the team's flow, then begin serving when the leader confirms your next step.
